St Neots 4th XI 3
Newmarket 2nd XI 1
A first loss of the season for the Newmarket side, in a game that was poised at a goal apiece until the last five minutes. Chris Leggett had opened the scoring for the visitors with a deflected shot from a short corner.
It was a deserved lead as the side had started brightly but as the first half drew to a close greater and greater pressure was being exerted by the home side. The equaliser came moments after the break, again after a short corner, the Newmarket defence caught out by a well executed training ground routine.
With both sides tiring, the defences were frequently caught on the break and either
side could have snatched a winner. Ultimately, it fell to the Saints with a third shortly after as Newmarket pushed in vain to take something from the game.
