Newmarket picked up their first points and first win of the season, with a competitive 2v1 win at perennial rivals Bury 7s. Newmarket looked nervous during the first half and had to resist a lot of pressure from some pacey Bury youngsters. But age and guile will always overcome youth and enthusiasm and Newmarket scored first thanks to Toby Goulds 4th of the season, tapping in at the back post. Bury struck back quickly when Newmarket failed to clear a short corner and they tapped in at the back post. Newmarket retook the lead with another top in at the post, this time by Ollie Brown, to be fair he did quite a bit before that but I forget exactly what. So 2-1 at half time and that is how it remained throughout the second half allowing Newmarket to claim their first win of the season.
Lesson to learn you can score a lot of goals tapping in at the back post.
