M3’s Get Second Win

Posted Posted in Club News

Newmarket M3 5 – 0 Felixstowe 4s  Newmarket Men’s 3s continued their resurgence after a rocky start to the season with their second win on the bounce. If truth be told Newmarket dominated the game from beginning to end, but a young quick and skilful Felixstowe kept the game close until the final 10 minutes. Newmarket did everything right in the first half and scored within the first 2  and carved their way through Felixstowe’s defence with encouraging regularity, but a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal and a fine performance from the Felixstowe keeper kept the score to 1v0 […]

L3’s Miss Chances at Home

Posted Posted in Club News

The team were on a high after a faultless start to the season, three wins from three, however Haverhill were always going to be a tough opposition based on previous experience.   The Ladies 3 had the better of the first half, with the majority of possession and chances, but were unable to convert them, leaving the game goalless at half time. The half time chat was obviously based around ‘more of the same, but lets convert those opportunities’.  Haverhill had a strong core and one player in particular would probably be suited better to a higher level, who ran through […]

M3’s Bag a Brace at Bury

Posted Posted in Club News

Newmarket picked up their first points and first win of the season, with a competitive 2v1 win at perennial rivals Bury 7s. Newmarket looked nervous during the first half and had to resist a lot of pressure from some pacey Bury youngsters. But age and guile will always overcome youth and enthusiasm and Newmarket scored first thanks to Toby Goulds 4th of the season, tapping in at the back post. Bury struck back quickly when Newmarket failed to clear a short corner and they tapped in at the back post. Newmarket retook the lead with another top in at the post, […]

With the midfield of Maisy Swann, Emily Sargeant, Olivia Clarke and Murron McCulloch helping pick the ball back up and chasing down any rogue balls that came their way.   Newmarket had lots of attacks and Ely main defensive tactic was to […]

Return to Hockey

Posted Posted in Club News

Your Committee have been working tirelessly in the background as we try to navigate Covid-19, keen to return to hockey, but mindful of England Hockey (EH) and Government guidance and requirements. The good news is that we return to hockey in earnest next week, but we must all realise that things won’t be the same.  The first thing to appreciate is that ALL players MUST complete an Individual Consent Form BEFORE they can return to Hockey of any kind. This is a requirement of EH who, along with the Club, will keep a copy of all completed forms. This form needs […]

Newmarket I’s 3 – 3 Norwich City III’s 26/10/2019 Goalscorers: Donald, Holden and Wilson Newmarket dominated the opening exchanges of the match looking for a sixth consecutive league victory. They started strongly and dominated the early exchanges but saw numerous chances go begging before Simon Donald deflected home at a penalty corner. Norwich City were a young team with a few experienced heads, Newmarket thought they’d scored a second when Michael Skelton deflected home another corner only to be disappointed that the umpire disallowed the goal and asked the corner to be retaken. This seems to give Norwich City a […]
