Message from the Chairman

Hi all I hope this finds you fit and well!  As many of you are aware this year’s leagues will not be completed, the good news however is that we can at least start playing hockey again after the 29th of March.  There is nothing stopping us arranging friendlies with other teams providing we follow Covid 19 guidelines that were previously established.  We have decided to leave this for each team to decide and organise if they so wish.  Please contact your captain to discuss.  As from Thursday the 1st of April we will be starting Pay and Play again […]

-East Hockey League Update-

Posted Posted in Club News

Conclusion of the 2020/2021 season Mar 2nd, 2021 What are plans look like for the remainder of the season? Firstly apologies for the delay in writing this. The Government made their announcement regarding lifting of restrictions in regard to Covid 19 on 22nd February(last Monday) and since that time we, as well as England Hockey, have been awaiting specific news regarding what can and cant be done and what, if any, travel restrictions will be in place. At the East League Management Committee meeting last Thursday, it was discussed and agreed that the only divisions with anything riding on the […]

I hope this finds you and all your loved ones safe and well in what for many are very difficult times. It is a real shame that I find myself writing to you a matter of weeks after we have entered yet another lockdown, which has resulted in all club hockey being suspended.  We currently have very little information with regards to what the likely implications are for the remainder of the league season, suffice to say that it would seem highly unlikely that we will get an opportunity to play much hockey between now and the end. We will […]

M3’s Get Second Win

Posted Posted in Club News

Newmarket M3 5 – 0 Felixstowe 4s  Newmarket Men’s 3s continued their resurgence after a rocky start to the season with their second win on the bounce. If truth be told Newmarket dominated the game from beginning to end, but a young quick and skilful Felixstowe kept the game close until the final 10 minutes. Newmarket did everything right in the first half and scored within the first 2  and carved their way through Felixstowe’s defence with encouraging regularity, but a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal and a fine performance from the Felixstowe keeper kept the score to 1v0 […]

L3’s Miss Chances at Home

Posted Posted in Club News

The team were on a high after a faultless start to the season, three wins from three, however Haverhill were always going to be a tough opposition based on previous experience.   The Ladies 3 had the better of the first half, with the majority of possession and chances, but were unable to convert them, leaving the game goalless at half time. The half time chat was obviously based around ‘more of the same, but lets convert those opportunities’.  Haverhill had a strong core and one player in particular would probably be suited better to a higher level, who ran through […]
