Are you interested in getting involved in coaching? Do you enjoy working with children/juniors? Can you spare an hour on Sunday mornings? Do you need to do some volunteering as part of your DofE award or sports course? Then your hockey club needs YOU!!! We are on the lookout for volunteers to help with coaching the junior teams on Sunday mornings. U8’s and U10s train from 10-11 and U14s from 11-12. If you could help with one or both sessions and were available every other week, once a month, just for tournaments or even every week then we would be […]

Junior Summer League 2018 – Reminder

Posted Posted in Juniors, Summer League

Just a quick reminder that Junior Summer League starts this Wednesday 6th June for 6 weeks through until Wednesday 11th July from 6-7pm each week. The idea of summer hockey is to give the youngsters as much game time as possible so we aim to play lots of small games each week and to make it as enjoyable as possible. As is the same with the usual training sessions, players will need to have shin pads and a gum shield and if owned, bring their hockey stick. If not then there are sticks which we can provide for them to use during the session. To […]

Junior News – Great Performances at Junior Tournament

Posted Posted in Juniors

Dear Juniors, Well done to all of the juniors who represented the club last Sunday in the tournament against Cambridge Nomads, St Ives and Saffron Walden and thanks to all of the volunteers that helped out on the day to make it a fun and successful day. There was some good hockey played and several winning scorelines which is even better! All age groups are definitely getting better at match play and this is something we will continue to build on in the New Year as we prepare for further tournaments later in the season. There was a photographer from the […]

Posted Posted in Juniors

Dear Juniors, I hope you all enjoyed the matches and tournament at Cambridge City on Sunday. It was fantastic to have over 50 juniors representing the club and playing some good hockey. We certainly noticed an improvement in each teams performance match by match. The U12 boys did exceptionally well to win two of their games and draw the third. Well done to all that took part. This coming Sunday is training as normal and then on 3rd December we have another junior tournament and this time we are hosting the following clubs at Newmarket; St Ives, Saffron Walden & Cambridge Nomads. […]

Junior Poster 2017/18

We have seen a massive increase in our junior membership over the last few years thanks in part to the success of the GB women and also the increase in the number of primary schools playing hockey. Whilst we are pretty much full at U8 & U10 age groups we do have some capacity at U12 and U14, particularly in the boy’s teams, but we can also take more girls as well. So why not come down to one of our Sunday morning sessions and give hockey a go? We are a very friendly club and except players of abilities. […]

Dear Juniors, We hope you have enjoyed the first couple of training sessions of the new season. This Sunday we have a specialist goalkeeper coach, Dan Brown joining us from 10-12 to offer some keeper coaching to anyone who would like to give goalkeeping a go. The session is open to everyone including complete beginners and we would love as many of you as possible to give it a go, it doesn’t mean you have to commit to playing in goal but why not give it a try! We are planning to place a kit order next week so if […]
