Junior Training
The junior section of the club range in age from 4 to 16 years. They are split into 3 groups, up to and including year 6 (unless a coach feels they would benefit from moving up a group), year 7 onwards girls and year 7 onwards boys.
The training sessions are split as follows: Helen Atkinson & Rachel Bullingham take the younger half of the group and are a mix of boys and girls up to the age of 11 (up to year 6) using half the pitch. Chris Evans & Sue Bullimore take the older boys (11 – 16yrs) while Chris Leggett and Nikki Boyle take the older girls (11 – 16yrs). These 2 groups use the other half of the pitch. Sessions run through the year, breaking in the summer and at Christmas.
We train every Thursday evening on the Astroturf at Newmarket Sports Centre between 7 and 8pm. Toilets are available at the school. We start in September and finish after the Suffolk Youth Games in July only stopping during the Christmas holidays. We split training into two groups, up to school year 6 coached by Helen Atkinson and Peter Reed and year 7 and above coached by Chris Evans and Chris Leggett. We will move children around if we feel they would benefit more by being in a different group.

Junior Matches
Our matches are usually split into age groups (U9, U11, U13 and U16) U9 and U11 are generally mixed. There is incidently, no minimum age limit, so if you would like to bring your son or daughter along to see how they like it, please do.
What to Wear
We do not mind what you wear but please ensure you are wearing shin pads.
What to Bring
A drink and stick if you have one, although we do have spare sticks.
Payment
The cost is £45 for the year and cheques should be made payable to Newmarket Hockey Club. If your child is joining halfway through the academic year please have a word with the coach as the cost will be adjusted accordingly. For administration purposes we much prefer to have payment in one sum; however it is possible to pay on a termly basis, please ask for details.

Medical conditions
Even if your child only plays for the 2 trial weeks, we still require these details. After 2 weeks, we will ask you to complete a more detailed subscription/Player detail form.
