Despite Newmarket's sustained pressure, the defence didn't falter,
Sue Bullimore made some great saves along with some fine clearances
from Beth Wombwell and Clodie Rolph. With Sarah Haird in midfield
creating a number of chances for the forwards in the circle the
goals didn't come, but it wasn't until the 25 minute mark that
Huntingdon's pressure finally paid off resulting in 0-1 at the half
time mark. Newmarket then started the second half with a number of
short corners, being pushed out by Haird with Gail McDonnell
striking but unfortunately she was unable to capitalise.
Huntingdon's second goal came from a poor clearance resulting in a
mass of legs in the crowded D.
A slightly questionable umpiring decision allowed
the score to finish 0-3, after Huntingdon scored from the ball being
lifted into the circle.
Not a too bad result hopefully the last couple of
weeks have given the girls a confidence boost and they can pull away
from the relegation zone.
Next weeks game is at home to Cambridge Ladies
II, only just above us so fingers crossed.
