Newmarket were keen to restart their season in the Division 4NE clash against Holt on Saturday after a run of cancelled matches in recent weeks. Newmarket were missing a number of key players, but started strongly making use of both wide men, with Pears and Horrex linking well on the right.

Newmarket's attacking style caught them out for the first goal when their short corner broke down early on resulted in Holt's opener. Newmarket, unfazed capitalised on good work by (man of the match) Magnuson and Jefferson to slot Starling through to bring the home side level.

The visitors dominated the run into the break applying pressure through a string of successive short corners only bettered by the outstanding efforts of stand-in keeper Steve Freed. Unfortunately, the barrage proved too much and Holt once again took the lead from one of the shorts.

Newmarket levelled again before half time when Starling found the net for the second time following a well worked long corner routine, using space around the 'D'.

The second half proved to be a disappointment following the open following work by both sides in the first half. The notable moments involved the umpire distributing a number of cards to players from both sides, and some fine goal keeping again from Steve Freed.

Newmarket are away to Bury IVs on Saturday where they hope to continue the better form that they find themselves in.
