Another victory for Newmarket ladies as they faced a depleted Peterborough side at home.

The opening sequence of passing from Town was outstanding and some incredible link ups were demonstrated.

The Peterborough keeper repelled numerous shots but Tracy Cockerill broke the deadlock to claim her fifth of the season so far.

Lydia Fison broke free from her markers and twice provided Beth Wombwell with pinpoint passes so she could skillfully put the ball into the back of the goal.

Claire McDonnell was next to capitalise for Town. Her shot was aided by a defender's deflection which spun the ball passed the keeper in the 34th minute.

The half time break did not make a difference to the run of play as Town again displayed good active build up play. Wombwell again found the target from a move that started from the left to claim her hat-trick.

Peterborough had a couple of chances to counter but this came to no avail. Gail McDonnell put on a very solid performance and was awarded player of the match.

Not done yet; Louise Downs drove a sweet shot through the keeper's legs on a short corner play to make Town 6-0 up. At this stage Newmarket seemed to lose interest in the game and they struggled to distribute to each other. The crowd once again encouraged Town and two minutes before the final whistle Claire McDonnell hit an unstoppable strike to put the icing on the cake for Town and end a comfortable 7-0 victory.
