Newmarket six in a row.
Newmarket played like champions for 5 minutes, but otherwise tended
to coast through this sixth consecutive league win of the 1999/2000
campaign. Goals came from Geordie Young in the first quarter, and
then Al Heath following in a short corner on the stroke of
half-time.
In
the second period, with four substitutions making good use of the
squad available, further goals came from Wilson Junior, Young again
and a solo effort from Matt Holden. Newmarket are scoring an average
of more than 4 a game, and have conceded only 3 this year. However,
they will need to be at their best next week for the visit to
Peterborough Athletic III, who have been pushing them in the table
all season.
