ClubsFirst

1st March 2010

Newmarket Hockey Club is working towards achieving the ‘ClubsFirst’ accreditation.

What is ClubsFirst?

ClubsFirst is the England Hockey accreditation scheme for clubs. It is a national recognition, awarded to a club by the England Hockey association. The club must be able to demonstrate it is fit for purpose and follows minimum operating standards that provides for a safe, effective and child friendly club environment. All clubs achieving ClubsFirst also achieve the Sport England Clubmark accreditation, a nationally recognised award for sports clubs.

What does it realistically mean to the Club?

As well as the national recognition there are a number of other benefits to being ClubsFirst accredited. These include access to funds for development, access to better links with schools, support for funding bids and invitations to compete in special competitions. The accreditation will ultimately mean a better run and more efficient club. Accredited clubs are also marketed on the England Hockey website.

What does the Club have to do?

We have formed a sub-committee to ensure we have the correct paperwork and infrastructure in place to pass the assessment; this includes adopting several policies to safe guard and protect children and appointing a welfare officer.

When will the Club achieve the accreditation?

We are aiming for the end of this playing season. To view the safeguarding policies we have adopted please click here.
