Newmarket Hockey Club was founded in 1948 and is most definitely a club on the rise. Calling Newmarket Leisure Centre their home, the Blue & Yellow Machine boasts seven senior teams which turn out across a variety of divisions in the North Eastern league.
The club also have a proud tradition of a modest-sized but thriving junior section, and many of the players that have come through the ranks now play for the senior sides or in higher leagues elsewhere.
Members of the NHC family also enjoy an active social scene, with players from both men’s and ladies’ sections meeting up regularly for curry nights, Saturday socials and other informal events. There’s even a friendly Facebook group.
Club Rules & Conduct
The Club opposed all forms of discrimination and will actively encourage, promote and develop hockey amongst all sections of the community it serves. The Club undertakes to ensure that 2Sports Equity (i.e. fairness) is practised. This includes providing opportunities for young people, black and ethnic groups, women and people with disabilities at a level appropriate to their needs and aspirations.
It is a requirement of Newmarket Hockey Club that all members are aware of their responsibilities in maintaining the good name of the Club. It is the responsibility of the the Club to ensure that good manners and courtesy prevail towards the opposition, umpires and other officials before, during and after the game.
The Club cannot be held responsible for any injuries a member may sustain while training or playing hockey. Members are strongly advised to ensure that they have adequate personal accident insurance.
Newmarket Hockey Club play home matches on the astro at Newmarket Leisure Centre, Exning Road, Newmarket, Suffolk, CB8 0EB. Take the South Drive from Exning Road and there is plenty of parking available. Changing rooms and facilities are available within the Leisure Centre.
Teas after matches are served in a private room at The Cherry Tree pub – turn left upon leaving the Leisure Centre and it is two blocks up Exning Road on the left, next to the mini roundabout. Parking is available but limited, so we recommend walking the short distance if possible.
In general, members are expected to attend teas, so please let your Captain know if you are unable to come.
Captains: Please do not pay The Cherry Tree for teas as they will be paid directly by the Club Treasurer.

Our playing kit is supplied by Adidas and consists of yellow shirts with navy trim, navy shorts with yellow trim and yellow socks. Our shirt sponsor is Mungo Marine.
Subscriptions are due from all players by 30th September. All players must be up-to-date with their yearly membership to validate the clubs insurance.
Seniors: £10.00. Juniors*: £7.00. *includes U18s & students in full time education
Ladies: Tuesdays, 7:30 — 9:00pm.
Men: Wednesdays, 7:00 — 8:30pm.
Juniors: Sundays, 10:30 — 11:30am.
The club use Teamer, an online team management application, to notify players of upcoming events and select squad members for matches. This enables us to send out invitations to players via website, email, SMS and mobile app and requires a free account. The club hold monthly social events which are open for everyone to get involved. The Social Secretary will share details of these via our social media accounts, club mailing list and on the website.
