- TOTW – Final Round!
This is the final TOTW round and it goes to the ladies 3s for their excellent 3-0 win at home against Ely 3s. A Grace Evans double and Holly Woods goal signed off a very good season for the ladies and formed a platform to build on for next year.
The men wrapped up their very impressive season with a hard fought 2-2 draw against mid-placed Market Deeping. As was in the previous fixture, Market Deeping put up a very good performance against the newly crowed champions! Onwards to Division 4NW next season. Just to make it official – Team of the Year 2010/11!!
The ladies 1s were brought crashing down to earth on Saturday against promotion chasing City of Peterborough 1s losing 0-6. Currently in 9th place in the league, the relegation battle hots up this weekend. Only defeat and a win for City of Peterborough 2s who host league leaders and champions Shefford & Sandy can throw this season into turmoil… from the four leagues, the 4 12th placed teams are relegated and 3 of the 11th placed teams go down. Come on ladies!!

- TOTW – Round 20
In the final game of the Suffolk Division 1 match, Newmarket 2s leapfrogged Carlton Park 2s to claim the runners-up spot and promotion to the Premier League – and they did it in some style too, winning 7-0 with captain Nikki Boyle scoring the final goal and her first for the club. Ladies 2s earn TOTW for round 20.
The ladies’ 1s came back numerous times to eventually draw 7-7 (not the highest scoring match, but it is the highest scoring draw) against Cambridge University 2s who must have been absolutely gob-smacked by the home side’s determination to have got anything out of this game. It’s still tight at the bottom of the league and with 2 going down, another win is required or other results are needed to go our way…
The ladies’ 3s drew 0-0 against local rivals Ely 3s. With one more game to play, they have secured a mid-table finish.
The men’s team travelled to 2nd placed Alford and were thrashed 6-0; their first defeat this season. The men would have wanted to maintain their unbeaten streak, however at this stage, it doesn’t change the fact that their still going up as Champions!

- TOTW – Round 15
The men’s team earned TOTW for round 15 with a 6-6 draw away against Cambridge City 5s. With Alford the league’s top goal getters in 2nd place beating Rutland 14-4, the gap between the two sides now closes to 8 points. The side entertain bottom placed St. Neots this coming weekend hoping to return to winning ways.
Despite going ahead in the game, the ladies 2s were eventually defeated 3-1 at league leaders Christchurch. This rather dented the side’s promotion hopes, but it’s still all to play for especially as the side is still due to meet 2nd placed Carlton Park. Promising debuts for April Atkinson and Donna Serimore should give the side confidence as they play Bury St. Edmunds at home this weekend.
The ladies 1s were without a few regulars this week and although replacements did well, the side lost 0-4 to mid-tabled St. Neots. Currently in 10th place just above the relegation zone, the ladies will be keen to secure some more invaluable points on Saturday as they travel to 9th placed City of Peterborough 2s as the relegation battle heats up.
The ladies 3s did not play.

- TOTW – Round 14
The men picked up a good away win against Wisbech winning 5-2 earning themselves another TOTW! Lee Blades continues his fine form in front of goal making it now 7 goals in the last 3 games. Will Wilson chipped in with a brace challenging current top goal scorer Mark Pears who scored his first goal since that incident a few ago.
The ladies’ 1s magnificently drew 2-2 with league leaders Shefford & Sandy 1s. Lou Downs put the ‘Town ahead from the spot and although Shefford came back to lead 1-2, Di Thomas scored her first goal since 13th November to equalise and seal an invaluable point.
The ladies’ 2s picked up a point against an exceedingly determined 10-man Haverhill. The side’s top goal scorer Beth Wombwell put the home team ahead only for that lead to last all of 5 minutes. The side were unable to make the extra player count and the final score finished 1-1.
The ladies’ 3s played undefeated league leaders Spalding 2s and just like in their earlier meeting in the cup, were pounded 8-0.

- TOTW – Round 13
The men earned a well deserved 6-1 victory against Cambridge South 3s enough to claim TOTW for Round 13. Lee Blades and Ben Sheppardson wrapped up the scoring with a brace a piece while Ollie Wade and Chris Leggett got the goals flowing in the first half. The season means so much to the lads that yet another one of the young players put his body on the line for the cause; Chris Leggett needed medical attention after receiving a stick to the face after a fantastic goal saving tackle.
The ladies’ 1s are making exemplary progress in the East 2NW earning a fantastic 3-0 away win at Cambridge Nomads 1s – goals from Tracey Cockerill and a double from Jenny Richards. Having been rooted to the bottom of the league for the majority of the season, back to back wins now see them 8th in the league. League leaders Shefford & Sandy are coming to town this weekend and let’s hope the ladies can continue their fine run of form.
The ladies’ 3s having gone behind early on away at Huntingdon 2s, emphatically came back to lead 2-1 through goals from Verity MacMahon. However, the lead was shortly lived as Huntingdon equalised soon after and it all finished 2-2. The town entertain league leaders Spalding 2s this weekend who have yet to drop points.
The ladies’ 2s did not have a game but return to action this weekend against Haverhill 2s.

- TOTW – Round 12
TOTW is being split between the Ladies 1s and the Ladies 2s. The Ladies 1s were given a huge boost this weekend when they picked up 3 vital points at home against Lincoln Roses 1s; winning 5-1. Although they are still placed last in the table, there’s only 3 points separating the bottom 5 so it’s going to be very interesting on how it all unfolds in the coming weeks. Another performance like today next week against Cambridge Nomads would probably see them move off the bottom spot. Nomads have lost just once at home this season, so the ladies are in for an excellent fixture.
The Ladies 2s beat Ipswich 6-2 at home with Beth Wombwell scoring a fab five to go first in the scoring charts. Sarah Ganiford also scored her first for the club and the side now sits 2nd in the league.
The men were away against City of Peterborough 7s and having beaten them 8-1 earlier in the season, the side must have been keen to bag a load more goals. However, a freak accident in the opening 5 minutes saw top goal scorer Mark Pears leave the pitch and requiring stitches when he was hit with a ball just above the eye. Despite this, veteran Lee Blades was on hand to bag his first hat-trick of the season and with Josh Dawson adding another made it a comfortable 4-0 win.
The Ladies 3s lost 1-4 at home against March.

- TOTW – Round 11
The ladies’ 3s earned an excellent 4-2 victory away at March in the cup finishing a well deserved 2nd place in the group stage. This result not only earns them TOTW for Round 11, but it makes their winning streak extend to 4 wins on the trot. The side will no doubt have renewed confidence as they once again face March this coming weekend in the league.
The men’s 1s were given a run for their money away at Market Deeping 3s going behind by 2 goals in the opening half. However, yet again the side demonstrated their drive as they came back to win 4-3 with goals from Mark Pears, Will Wilson and a brace from Ben Shepperson.
The ladies’ 1 did very well against promotion chasing City of Peterboro 1s only just losing out 2-4. This gallant performance must surely inspire the girls as they go into this weekend’s six-pointer fixture at home against Linclon Roses 1s…

- TOTW – n/a
Only 1 team recorded a result and that was the men’s 3-0 awarded win against Alford. So no TOTW for this weekend.
Have a good Christmas and we’ll see you all in the New Year! Happy 2011!
- TOTW – Round 10
The men notch another win and another TOTW for round 10 with an amazing 11-0 victory against Rutland 3. The lads now lead the TOTW leaderboard by 8.5 TOTWs and despite not having even reached Christmas, are all but crowned Team of the Year!!
Elsewhere, the ladies 3s were a 3-0 walkover against Rutland 2s which sees the Cambs League team move up into 2nd spot in the league. The ladies 1s were unlucky against Louth 1s losing 1-3 after yet another valiant performance. The ladies 2s did not have a game.
