Michael Skelton (left) and Oliver Wade (right) who both were selected to play for Suffolk in the recent county tournament held at Holcombe in Kent.

Suffolk beat Herefordshire 6-2 in their first game, with Mike Skelton scoring the first goal. In the second game they lost 2-1 to Cumbria in a game they should really have won.

In the third game they lost 9-1 to Kent, who’s team contained many national league players and international players, with Oliver Wade saving a couple on the line. In the last game they beat the Isle of Man 6 – 5. Unfortunately they finished third on goal difference, with the game against Cumbria preventing them for progressing to the next round.

Mike Skelton has played for Suffolk on numerous occasions and it was Oliver Wade’s first taste of hockey at that level, but the youngster made a big impression and should be part of the Suffolk side for many years to come.

Having been promoted for 3 consecutive seasons, Newmarket Men’s team are always on the look out for new players as they prepare for their first season in division 2N, anybody interested in taking up or returning to the game as part of a friendly sociable club should contact Captain Will Wilson for more details on 07795 103426.
