Newmarket Ladies 3 vs St Neots Ladies 3 HT: 1-0 FT: 1-0 Scorer: Georgia Atherton When these two teams clashed earlier in the season, St Neots ran out comfortable winners, so this would be a good test to see how far the ladies have come on this season. Newmarket arrived at the pitch an hour before push back and were well drilled and warmed up by the time the game started. This showed as Newmarket started strongly, dominating possession and finding particular success down the wings through Jones, Barnes and Hogg. Missing regular centre mid Hansgate, Bronnie King stepped into […]

Newmarket Ladies 2’s gain promotion – result 3-1 away win over Wisbech 3’s A long journey saw Newmarket ladies 2s travel to Wisbech for a 4pm start…..they didn’t go all that way to lose was the attitude the team had. Newmarket knew today’s game would be totally different and a more competitive game compared to last weeks goal fest. The team dynamics were spot on this week with some changes to the side, which gave Newmarket a strong team against Wisbech who had the potential to ruin Newmarket’s promotion prospects. Newmarket started out hard and fast, which saw Town play […]

Crunch Time For All Teams

Newmarket Ladies 3s vs Bourne Deeping L2 – HT 0-1 FT 1-1 Scorer Georgia Atherton Newmarket were left wondering how they failed to come back from Deeping with out all 3 points. They dominated possession pushing forward from the first whistle, but were wasteful in front of goal. Midway through the half Deeping had what was probably their only real chance of the game and scored. It was a frustrating game to watch as Deeping thwarted the Newmarket attackers throughout the game until late in the second half the ball fell to Georgia Atherton who drilled the ball beyond the […]

Newmarket Ladies 3 vs Huntington L3 HT: 0-0 FT: 1-0 Scorer Helen Hansgate The first half was a forgettable affair as the 0v0 scoreline may suggest, Newmarket played some good hockey but were guilty of gifting the ball to Huntingdon on far too many occasions. Both sides manufactured a few chances but neither side looked like troubling the score board. Following a half-time pep talk from Captain Benedikz, Newmarket returned to the field determined to hold onto possession and generate more chances. The second half was just what the doctor ordered. Newmarket fought for every ball, tackled hard, made good […]

Newmarket Men’s 1st   13 – 1   Lowestoft Railway Men’s 1st After and intense well attended midweek training session Newmarket approached this game with a different mind-set to last week’s disappointing draw away at lowly Magpies. With Harry Bell, Dave Worrall and Captain Ed Griffith still injured and Ben Barclay (nee Gottfredsen) working the club called up veteran Alex Andreou from the seconds and were grateful that James Atkinson completed his weekend homework on Friday evening and was allowed out to play. Railway actually started the first couple of minutes on top, but a sweeping team move starting with Mark Pears […]

Newmarket Ladies 1’s v Lowestoft Ladies 1’s. 1-5. The Ladies 1 team played Lowestoft this past Saturday. Newmarket ladies played well, having more quick and accurate passes than previous games. However, Lowestoft came to win. Whenever the ball came into the Newmarket defensive end, Lowestoft utilized every opportunity they had to score. Newmarket’s Claire McDonnell, Di Thomas, and Denise Wagner had a few shots on goal that unfortunately they could not be finished. The first half ended with a 4-0 Lowestoft lead. At the start of the second half both teams came back out strong. On a corner shot taken […]
